To Pad Or Not To Pad

To Pad Or Not To Pad

Are you wondering if you should put a pad under your rug? I’m here to tell you yes.  Aside from minis in front of sinks, which you may want to shake out regularly or perhaps move out of the way, I always recommend a rug pad.

Aside from adding comfort under your feet, rug pads offer a grip to keep your rug from sliding on the floor. Especially handy in high traffic areas like runners in kitchens. That barrier between the rug and the floor also helps prevent friction which could break down the fibres in your rug faster, so they also help with the longevity of your rug.

As for size you always want your pad to be a little bit smaller than your rug so you don’t see it peeking out from the edges. You can trim them yourself with scissors if you need to.  I usually recommend 1/4” thick felt non slip option, these can be ordered from just about anywhere including everyone's favourite, Amazon.
