I just can't bear to see history be tossed out or neglected. So when I found this chair on Facebook Marketplace I jumped at the opportunity to give it a new home. When I picked up the frame I was able to get a little backstory on it. The gentleman who was trying to re-home her had been keeping her in his garage for years. Apparently it used to be his mom's favourite chair and eventually his dad planned to update it for her. He started tearing it apart and then it ended up living in his garage for many years.
When both parents passed the son kept it in his garage for another many years before finally deciding to part with it. These are the kinds of pieces I just can't walk away from. I put my heart and soul into rebuilding her and when I was finished my husband looked at me and said ' you're not going to sell that are you? we need to keep it!' So we did. She sits lovingly in my bedroom and makes a great spot to curl up with a book.
I did message the gentleman I purchased her from when she was all finished to show him pictures of her new look and promised him she had a lot of life left to give our family. He was so pleased to see her finally put back together.
